PRODUCT DEVELOPER

Rapidly growing home-based business needs creative person to make and develop folkroots rhythm instruments.

This rare ground floor opportunity is perfect for a proven self-starter who enjoys making things and working with your hands. Degree in Art or Design preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities include making musical bones and other simple folkroots rhythm instruments and accessories; improving current products; developing new products; creating prototypes for production; managing other creative projects as needed.

Requires basic woodshop skills and experience with common hand tools and power tools such as bench sander, drill press, bandsaw and the like.

Must be in good physical shape and able to lift 50 pounds.

Must have product design portfolio that demonstrates ability to take a project from concept to completion.

Musical ability required. Must have band experience with folkroots instruments - particularly washboard, spoons and bones. Experience playing kazoo, Cajun triangle, musical saw, jaw harp, jug, washtub bass and the like highly desirable. Must have the chops to sit in with experienced musicians playing musical genres including Minstrel, Old-time, Irish, Cajun, Ragtime, Blues and Jugband. Experience playing banjo or concertina a plus. Living history experience a plus.

Must be resourceful with excellent organizational, administrative, computer and writing skills and live in or near Saint Louis.

Requires experience on Mac platform with working knowledge of Photoshop Elements, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, iMovie (or equivalents). Experience with BBEdit and database software a plus. Experience creating and editing documents using Adobe Acrobat desirable. Social media savvy with experience on YouTube and Facebook desirable.

Skills in graphic design, an eye for photography, and experience producing booklets, business cards, labels, coupons and other promotional materials would make you especially attractive.
