How to get your products into the wholesale catalog

If you are a manufacturer who cranks out lots of products, then you might want to list your items not only in our retail catalog, but in the wholesale catalog as well. The wholesale catalog offers quantity discounts to retailers who must spend a minimum dollar amount. That's why the wholesale catalog might generate orders at higher volumes for you than the retail catalog.

In a nutshell
If you want to take advantage of this looming market, then the Bone Dry Musical Instrument Co. can work as a wholesale distributor for you.

How it works
I buy products from you below wholesale, then sell your products to retailers who buy them at wholesale. The retailers, of course, offer your products to the public at street prices.

Who should sell wholesale?
Since many retailers prefer to keystone their prices (i.e. sell for 2 to 3 times cost), this wholesaling business ain't for us folks who handcraft products one at a time. That's because most of us one-at-a-timers work at margins far too tight to sell much below wholesale. So us one-at-a-time bone makers are probably better off selling at our own shops and maybe expanding our sales network through the Bone Dry Musical Instrument Co. retail catalog.

But if you are a bone mogul who is set up to mass produce products that sell at low margins, then it might pay to get your products listed in both the wholesale catalog as well as the retail catalog. Okay, it's just a pipe dream at this point in time, but wouldn't it be great if the wholesale catalog developed enough volume potential to become a 'big money' area of your business?

Here is how to get your products listed in the wholesale catalog—

Send the information below
If you want to sell to retailers through our wholesale catalog, then send the information below. I will review your products then either place an order, or keep your materials on file.

You can get this information to me by phone, postal mail, email, or simply use these two handy online forms

 1.
Contact and business information
What is your name and email address? Do you accept payment by check, credit card, PayPal, etc.?

 2.
Price list
What are your rates for quantity prices?
Example (w/quantity prices):

Qty Discount Price
01+ 40% $6.00

48+ 70% $3.00
72+ 80% $2.00

 3.
Product description
Give a brief description (around 25 words or less). Or better yet, make your products really sell better with this handy online Product Description Worksheet.

 4.
Stock-on-hand
How many items do you normally keep stocked in reserve? This helps me decide if I should configure the store to allow backorders on your products or not. If you keep few or no products in reserve, then instead of offering the customer an option to purchase your product on backorder, the shopping cart will show your product as "out of stock."

 5.
Availability
How many products can you produce on demand in a day? Better yet, how many days does it take to manufacture x number of products? (e.g. "I can produce 25 pairs per week, plus shipping time.") This lets me determine how long it takes to fulfill orders if we get flooded with more orders—knock on wood—than you keep stocked in reserve. This also lets me advise customers who want to know how long it will take to fulfill a large order.

 6.
Seasonal or calendar restrictions
Do you ever close down production? For example, can you fulfill orders between Christmas and New Year's Eve? During the spring planting season? While you're away on summer vacation with the kids, etc. This helps me head off a rush order crisis.

 7.
MSRP and Street Prices
Be sure to specify your MSRP, and clue us in on the Street Price. This lets wholesale customers determine their price margin—so they can make a buying decision.
