Vintage Ebony Minstrel Style Bones
Matched set of 4 w/repaired cracks

This matched set of ebony minstrel style bones was acquired in January 2020 from an antique dealer who purchased them at an estate sale.
"I acquired these at an estate sale in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, where I'm from. I don't know anything about them. They were in a bag marked 'musical bones,' and I have 2 sets of them."

Description

Fine ebony finish. Excellent condition aside from repaired cracks in three of the four bones.

How Old Are They?
The 1897 Sears catalog sold sets of seven-inch ebony bones and these might be one of them. I always like to think my vintage ebony and rosewood bones date back to the Civil War, even if it is just wishful thinking.
Features
  • Vintage Instruments: Ebony hardwood.
  • Matched Set: 2 pairs, 4 individual bones.
  • Minstrel Style Design: Still popular after 150 years.
