Performed with original 19th century banjos, guitars, jaw harp, harmonica and bones by Martin Liebschner, Jr.

Rattle along to more than 35 minutes of great bone-able minstrel tunes. You get 14 tracks recorded with original 19th century instruments. I especially enjoy rattlin' to the full-length tunes that give you time to get into the groove of the tune.

Vintage Tunes Played on Vintage Instruments
This CD represents music from the 1840s to the 1890s using original 19th century instruments. "I don't use any modern recording method," says Marty, adding, "These songs are recorded exactly as I would sing them around the campfire."

You Won't Find this Rare CD at the Local Music Store
These hard-to-find CDs are the same ones sold by the National Park Service, state agencies and private historical preservation organizations at historic sites around the country.

The tunes are performed by Martin Liebschner, Jr. Marty is known as "Banjoman" in the reenacting community and works as a professional musician who specializes in 19th century instruments. He holds an academic degree in Early American History and has dedicated himself to living history, preservation and education.

Marty appears in TV and documentaries as a performer and music consultant in well over a dozen historical film productions. His historical film production credits include Gettysburg, Andersonville and Spotsylvania Court House.

This YouTube video was recorded in August 2007 by Rhythm Bones Society member Mike Passerotti at the 11th annual Bones Fest in Newburg, Wisconsin. The video shows yours truly (with a set of vintage ebony minstrel bones reportedly owned by a veteran of the Battle of Gettysburg) playing along to Marty Liebschner's Songs from the Parlor CD.

So if you want to rattle along with vintage American banjo tunes played on authentic instruments by a musician steeped in the 19th century traditional style, then this CD is for you.
