Product Specs

Vintage Ebony Minstrel Style Bones, 7"
Matched set of 4 in excellent condition

This matched set of ebony minstrel style bones was acquired in November 2018 from a nice lady in Sparrow Bush, New York.
"Belonged to my husband's great uncle who passed them to his uncle who passed them on to my husband. Used to be played at family gatherings."

Description

Silky smooth ebony finish. Excellent condition aside from several minor dents and nicks along the edges. This set was associated with the four vintage minstrel style sets listed below..
How Old Are They?
The 1897 Sears catalog sold sets of seven-inch ebony bones and these might be one of them. From the owner's statement above, they probably go back at least to the 1930s or 1940s. Then again, I always like to think my vintage ebony and rosewood bones date back to the Civil War, even if it is just wishful thinking.
Features
  • Hand Crafted Instruments: Ebony hardwood.
  • Matched Set: 2 pairs, 4 individual bones.
  • Minstrel Style Design: Still popular after 150 years.
