Product Specs   Vintage Mahogany Minstrel Style Bones Matched set of 4 in very good condition This unusual set of vintage bones was acquired in November, 2008 from Fred Naylor of East Freetown, New York. "These bones were made by my father in 1943 in the Philippine Islands during World War Two. They are made from mahogany wood. They rattle real loud. A better sound than real bone. If you play bones you will like them." The 1/4" thickness makes this set great for small or large or any size hands. That thin thickness also enables you to generate a broad range of dynamic tones with these instruments. The edges are relatively sharp which is not a criticism, but an advantage for players who prefer to get a firm grip the bones. The edges exhibit some minor wear and chipping which is barely visible in the photos and does not effect playability. One bone shows some tiny cracks along the edge which has not been an issue for me. All in all, this is an amazingly rare set of great playing dynamic vintage bones, apparently hand carved during wartime by a U.S. soldier stationed in the Pacific.
