Product Specs

Vintage Mahogany Flat Style Bones, 6-5/8"
Deep rich dark mahogany, short length

This pair of vintage mahogany bones was acquired in August 2014 from the owner in the United Kingdom. He described them as "musical rickers."

Tone

The polished mahogany pair has tempered with age and generates a slightly sharper tone than fresh mahogany.

Flat Striking Surface
The face (i.e. striking surface) is flat. That's why bones like these are called flat bones. Flat bones are easy to grip. They're also excellent for women, kids, and players with small hands. I love flat bones. They are among my top favorites. Flat bones are relatively thin as a rule, and easy to grip no matter what size your hands are. Got small hands? Then flat bones are especially well suited for you.

How Old Are They?

The previous owner claims they are from the Edwardian era.
That would date them from 1901 to 1914.
Features
  • Vintage Instruments: Solid mahogany.
  • Produces nice warm sound.
  • Flat Style Design: Bones are curved, striking surface is flat. Easy to grip, easy to rattle.
