Product Specs

Small Brass Bulb Horn
Medium bell, traditional bugle design
Excellent for musical washboards, vintage cars, clowns & entertainers, and "all your honking needs". At least one customer used this Small Brass taxi horn for sound effects in their production of "It's a Wonderful Life."

Don't Let the Name Fool You
Yes, this horn is small when you compare the size of the bell to our Large Bulb Horn. But the small horn is double the length of our bicycle-sized Mini Bulb Horn. So this "small" horn is relatively large by comparison - and quite impressive.

Reproduction Antique-Style
Small Brass Bulb Horn

This instrument is handcrafted yet budget-priced. It resembles vintage bulb horns your great-grandad might have seen on early motorcars tooling around town from 1900 to 1915. The horn measures 15-1/2 inches (39.37cm) in length and features a medium 3-3/4 inch (9.5 cm) diameter bell with removable reed and rubber squeeze bulb. Mounting hardware not provided.

Great for Musical Washboards,
Vintage Cars, Clowns
& Entertainers

Your classic bulb horn works great on any musical washboard, your vintage motor car cruising down the road, or on-stage entertaining the masses. And the horn packs a big punch too! One good squeeze on the bulb gets everyone's attention. Folks can hear it all the way down the block - or at your next gig sitting way back in the last row. Oh, and the light-weight design won't weigh you down either.

Shirt-Pocket History
of the Bulb Horn

So where the heck did bulb horns come from anyway? It all goes back to the early 1800s in Britain when horseless steam carriages posed a public safety hazard to pedestrians. This resulted in a law requiring a man to walk ahead of the vehicle waving a red flag and blowing a horn. By the late 1800s self-propelled vehicles evolved into motor cars which now sported their own on-board warning bell, whistle or bulb horn. In 1908 the electric Klaxon "ah-oo-gah" horn was introduced on motor cars and became extremely popular, putting all other warning devices out of favor...and thus relegated our esteemed classic brass bulb horn to the annals of history.

Attractive Brass Finish

Made from real brass that achieves an attractive antique patina with age. Or keep finish shiny with any commercial brass polish.

How to Generate a Loud Honk

Squeeze rubber bulb quickly and firmly. The horn should generate a loud blast. (If you squeeze rubber bulb gently, the horn will make no sound at all.)
