Great for cutting through the mix... |

For the past 3.5 years I've been using a pair of short cow ribs given to me by the gent who taught me to play. I generally play bodhran during traditional Irish seisiuns.
I stumbled across Bone Dry just before St. Patty's 3-2009 as I was looking to enhance the versatility of sound and expand my instrument choices during a seisiun. After a very informative conversation with Scott's I decided to give these Shooting Star bones a go. I am not disappointed. For my hand and style of playing, the wide format, bend, weight, and feel are excellent. I played a very loud seisiun recently and discovered that I will need to learn how to augment my style in order to accommodate some really high tight pops that cut through the mix very easily. While it could have been the acoustics in the venue, these are very loud when struck. However, they are a really lovely sound and definitely feel it will be worth learning how to get the most out of them. These are a definite recommendation.
