HELP WANTED

Office Manager/Bookkeeper/Project Manager

Rapidly growing home-based business needs ambitious self-starter who enjoys traditional folkroots music and thrives on administrative tasks and responsibility.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is ideal for a folkroots music fan with a passion for running the office, keeping the books, managing projects, and making sure the office phones, printers & computer network work without a hitch. But just as important, if you are the kind of person who wants a piece of the action, and if you have enough business savvy and drive and horse sense to ultimately take the keys and run the entire operation with a few close associates, then you will probably want to drop whatever you are doing and submit your resume now, while you still have the chance.

Job in a Nutshell
Do you enjoy folkroots music? Yes, we're talking about old-time fiddle music and other down-home musical "roots" traditions such as cajun, minstrel, ragtime, gospel, jug band, Irish, blues and the like. Are you a take-charge person who really enjoys keeping the books, managing an office, administering projects and, well...keeping an organization organized? Are you good with people and computers? Are you an excellent writer with the verbal skills to match who can also edit and proofread a document every now and again? Do you play the washboard, spoons or kazoo...or appreciate folks who do? Okay then. You are qualified. Everything else below is just details.

Requirements

  1. Must be highly resourceful and results oriented with great attention to detail. Requires excellent organizational, administrative, computer, and time-management skills. Your resume demonstrates your ability to assume responsibility and take a project from concept to completion. In short, this position requires a self-motivated person who knows how to get things done. Degree in business administration preferred, but not required. Must live in or near Saint Louis.
  2. Experience with QuickBooks and QuickBooks Payroll required.
  3. Requires experience on Mac platform with working knowledge of Photoshop Elements, iPhoto, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, iMovie (or equivalents). Must have excellent writing and verbal ability. Experience with Volusion or similar eccomerce environments a plus. Experience with BBEdit and database software a plus. Experience creating and editing documents using Adobe Acrobat desirable. Skills in graphic design, an eye for photography, and experience producing ad layouts, booklets, business cards, labels, coupons and other promotional materials would make you especially attractive.

Partnership Potential
Definite partnership potential for right person with exceptional administrative and leadership skills.

Responsibilities
We work in a fast-paced (yet relaxed) environment. Like any rapidly expanding small business, you will juggle more hats than a normal person can possibly keep track of. Some of those tasks will be performed by future staff. But for now, there's just the three of us. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to take charge and own these tasks:

Office Management

  • Maintain and order supplies
  • Manage phone system
  • Manage computer network
  • Manage printers & office equipment
  • Proofread written materials
  • Resolve invoice and billing issues with customers, vendors, and suppliers
  • Improve our current office operations

Bookkeeping

  • Maintain sales and expense ledgers
  • Manage payroll
  • Maintain purchase order log
  • Manage QuickBooks
  • Manage tax payments
  • Manage banking accounts

Project Management

  • Support marketing and product managers
  • Manage various projects as needed

So if managing the administrative affairs of the world's largest (and only) shop that specializes in hard-to-find folkroots rhythm instruments sounds appealing to you. And if the idea of growing alongside a small rapidly expanding company where the sky is the limit makes your heart beat faster, then send your resume today to [email protected] with a note explaining why the heck you are so fired-up about taking on the administrative headaches of a teeny-tiny rhythm instrument company.
